Ending Preventable Deaths
Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States[X]. This is not okay. Providing support, having easy access to resources, destigmatizing mental illness, and education can play a vital role in reducing suicide rates.
Each year, thousands of people are killed due to distracted driving. Teens and young adults have the highest proportion of fatal distracted crashes[X]. By engaging students and education, we can reduce the amount of distracted driving.
From 2010 to 2013, the rate of heroin related deaths has nearly tripled[X]. By providing resources for individuals struggling with addiction and educating the public, we can reduce the amount of overdoses and deaths.
Nearly 50% of murder victims in Colorado were killed by an intimate partner [X]. Resources need to become more accessible to victims. Education on healthy relationships can also help reduce domestic violence.
